Cornell BioPharma Network/Cornell Entrepreneur Network Joint Event

Attendees from the Cornell BioPharma Network and the Cornell Entrepreneur Network enjoyed hors d'oeuvres, drinks, and networking at the first face-to-face event of the Cornell BioPharma Network. Dr. Howard Fillit, Executive Director of the Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF), presented on ADDF. ADDF is a pioneering “venture philanthropy” that directly invests in early-stage companies pursuing drugs and diagnostics for Alzheimer’s. In our post-crash era, in which the venture capital model seems broken, organizations like ADDF are emerging as a crucial source of funding for high risk biotech ventures. 2009 Technology Innnovation Gala

Chinese Minister of Agriculture Visit

On September 24th, CCTEC hosted a visit from the Chinese Minister of Agriculture, Sun Zhengcai, and an eight member delegation from the Department of Science and Education of the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture. The delegation attended a welcome breakfast at Taverna Banfi on the Cornell campus after which they attended a signing ceremony at the CCTEC office. During the signing ceremony, Bai Jinming, the Director General of Department of Science, Alan Paau, Executive Director and Vice Provost for Technology Transfer and Economic Development, Michael Kotlikoff, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, and Jan Nyrop, Senior Associate Dean of the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Department of Science and Education of the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Cornell University to explore the creation and development of a Sino-US Ray Wu Agricultural Technology Innovation Center. The formation and development of the Center is intended to promote a broad-based strategic partnership and to enhance Sino-US agricultural scientific and techonlogical exchange and cooperation. The Center will also serve to memorialize the late Cornell Professor, Ray Wu, for his outstanding contributions to Sino-US agricultural science, technology exchange and training.
Entrepreneurship Seminar Series - IP Horror Stories
