What You Need to Know About Bringing Biotech Innovation to Market

Alice Li and Robin Chadwick held a webinar entitled "Bringing Biotech Innovation to Market." The presentation dove into a specific biotech innovation created by Cornell's research community and illustrated the path it took to achieve successful commercialization development. Also, attendees learned about the latest in the on-going legal sagas and potential obstacles that threaten the protection of innovation within the biotech community.


Patents & Innovation: the America Invents Act and other Changes at the USPTO

Sue Purvis, the Department of Commerce Innovation Outreach Coordinator for the Greater New York region, presented in person along with Jerry Lorengo, Technology Center 1600 Director for the US Patent & Trademark Office, presenting via Webex.  They discussed how the USPTO is implementing the America Invents Act, including transitioning the United States from a first to invent to a first inventor to file system.  Ms. Purvis also discussed her work with the innovation community in New York City.


Cornell Technology Road Show at BIO

Investors and entrepreneurs reviewed selected biomedical technologies coming out of Cornell University and learned about our technology transfer program.  Hors d'oeuvres and drinks were served after the presentations.

CCTEC New Business & Emerging Technology Showcase™

CCTEC's New Business & Emerging Technology Showcase™ highlighted new Cornell businesses and emerging technologies from the Ithaca campus, Weill Cornell Medical College, and the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station.  This showcase is part of the Entrepreneurship@Cornell Celebration event.

Attendees learned about an exciting Cornell technology over drinks and hors d'oeuvres.  Prof. Will Dichtel, Chemistry & Chemical Biology, presented on explosives detection using fluorescent polymers.

Seminar & Social Hour™

Attendees learned about an exciting Cornell technology over drinks and hors d'oeuvres.  Prof. Scott Ely, Clinical Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, presented a new method using image analysis to conveniently and effectively assess lymphoma and myeloma proliferation.
