IP & Pizza™, NYS Agricultural Experiment Station

Location: Jordan Hall Lounge, 630 West North Street, Geneva
Researchers from the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station participated in an open forum discussion and learned about utility patents, Plant Variety Protection Certificates, and how CCTEC can help commercialize their research. Tate Tischner and Mike Goldman, both from Nixon Peabody, led the discussion.

Upstate New York Biocareer Connection

Over 150 people gathered at the Clarion Hotel in Ithaca, NY to learn about opportunities in the bioscience field. 21 regional bioscience companies exhibited and discussed skills they are seeking in potential employees.
In addition, three panels of experienced professionals shared advice on finding a job in the life sciences, alternative careers in the life sciences, and entrepreneurship and the vision for tomorrow.

Seminar & Social Hour™

Based on a new technology platform, Reparo is developing products, consumer and clinical, for conditions that may benefit from prolonged and enhanced DNA repair activities. These may include skin care, anti-cancer, and other health-related products. Liyan He, CEO of Reparo, presented the company to MBA students from the Johnson Graduate School of Management.

CCTEC and the CTSC partner institutions discussed how technology transfer relates to clinical development. Attendees learned how joint inventions between the partner institutions are managed and handled. Pasta, wine, and beer were served. Deb Somerville, Kenyon & Kenyon, spoke at the event.

The What, Who, and How of SBIR/STTR Grants and Other Public & Private Funding Sources

Trying to find funding isn't easy. This event will provide you with the basics on SBIR/STTR grants and what it takes to win, about New York City and State funding opportunities and resources, and strategies for approaching angel investors. The learning and networking event offers current information and direct access to experts. Speakers and panelists include researchers who have received funding through SBIR/STTR awards, NYSTAR, or angel investors; program managers from public and private funding sources; and representatives with legal and technology transfer expertise. All will be available to answer questions and give advice.

The Alexandria Center for Science and Technology at East River Science Park is being built along Manhattan's East Side Medical Corridor and will be ready for occupancy in 2010. Whether you are an entrepreneur thinking about where to locate your next venture, or just interested in technology-based economic development, come hear about the plans for East River Science Park.
Alexandria has helped to develop clusters in the original bioscience havens of San Francisco, CA, and Cambridge, MA and in new clusters like Seattle, San Diego, and Research Triangle Park, NC.
