Antibody to mouse CD36
-
CD36 is a cell surface class B scavenger receptor. CD36 is preferentially found within lipid rafts, which facilitates its association with receptors, signaling and adapter molecules. CD36 binds to collagen, thrombospondin, anionic phospholipids and oxidized LDL. It may function as a cell adhesion molecule. CD36 directly mediates the adherence of erythrocytes harboring the malaria parasite, Plasmodium falciparum, with the lining of small veins of various organs. This may cause microvascular occlusion, which is believed to contribute to the acute pathology of malaria. It also binds long chain fatty acids and may function in their transport and/or as a regulator of fatty acid transport.

NeuroFlo™
-
CoAxia has developed the NeuroFlo™ catheter as a device for augmenting the blood flow to the brain, and in particular to increase blood flow in the collateral blood vessels to augment perfusion in the ischemic penumbra. NeuroFlo™ partially restricts blood flow in the descending aorta, diverting blood flow from the lower extremities to the cerebral collaterals. The NeuroFlo™ catheter itself is a unique, dual-balloon endovascular device. It is inserted through the femoral (leg) artery into the descending aorta and has independently inflatable balloons located immediately above and below the renal (kidney) arteries. The balloons are sequentially inflated to produce occlusions of approximately 70%. The balloons are left inflated for 45 minutes and are then removed and treatment is complete.

RAS Activation Assay
-
The Ras switch operates by alternating between an active, GTP-bound state and an inactive, GDP-bound state. The assay uses the Ras-binding domain (RBD) of the Ras effector kinase Raf1. The Raf-RBD domain has been shown to bind specifically to the GTP-bound form of Ras proteins. The assay provides a simple means of quantitating Ras activation in cells. The amount of activated Ras is determined by a western blot using a Ras specific antibody.

LSM 7 MP and LSM 710 NLO
-
Multiphoton microscopy (MPM) systems by Carl Zeiss use femto-(10-15) second lasers. This pulsed, ultrafast infrared laser excites fluorescent dyes at the focus only - the only place where photon density is high enough to produce fluorescence. This focus results in only a small amount of their light being absorbed by biological tissues, compared with visible excitation light. The result is deep tissue penetration of the excitation light, with low absorption and next to no scattering loss and only minimal phototoxic effects.
MPM offers a decisive advantage in the long-term observation of biological processes: the device’s point excitation allows for a significant reduction in phototoxicity, as the light has an impairing effect only in the focus. Whether it is intravital imaging, long-term observation of developmental processes, or high-resolution 3D imaging, MPM delivers true-to-detail and high-contrast images and allows scientists to generate images of surface to very deep-lying tissue with subcellular resolution in a gentle way.

MicroMounts™ and MicroMesh™ Mounts
-
MicroMounts™ are the highest performance tools for manipulating and mounting protein crystals, virus crystals, and small molecule/inorganic crystals, as well as, a wide range of other small, fragile samples. They are ideal for both conventional and high-throughput X-ray crystallography applications
MicroMesh™ Mounts are the tool of choice for microcrystal crystallography and diffraction experiments, especially at microfocus beamlines. They have been used in de novo protein structure determination from crystals as small as 5 um. They are excellent for rod shaped crystals, and in particular are superior to mounts with elliptical apertures, because the mesh provides continuous, gentle support for rods of all sizes. MicroMeshes produce the smallest background scatter of any commercial mount. Their sieve-like action allows easy retrieval of sub-30 um crystals.

MicroTools™
-
These tools are designed for use with samples from a fewmicrometers to a millimeter in size. Unlike other microtools, Mitegen's patent-pending MicroTools™ have tips made from soft, flexible microfabricated polymer films. The curvature of the tips gives them rigidity, but they can still easily be flexed to, e.g., slide flat along the well bottom in a multiwell plate, simplifying sample retrieval. These tools are far less likely to damage fragile samples than metal microtools, and are optically and X-ray transparent. They are well suited for use with protein crystals, single cells and other small samples.

CFA 9 PRCD Marker DNA Test
-
The OptiGen prcd test is done on a small sample of blood from the dog. The test analyzes the specific DNA mutation causing the prcd-PRA. The OptiGen test detects the mutant, abnormal gene copy and the normal gene copy. The result of the test is a genotype and allows separation of dogs into three groups: Normal/Clear (homozygous normal), Carrier (heterozygous), and Affected (homozygous mutant).

Collie Eye Anomaly/Choroidal Hypoplasia Test
-
The OptiGen genetic test for CEA/CH provides a powerful management tool for the breeder. This genetic test can distinguish all three genetic states – normal, carrier and affected. With this information, the breeder can plan matings that avoid producing any affected dogs by always selecting one parent that is normal. The other parent can be normal, carrier or even affected, and no affected dogs will result. This breeding recommendation is a big step forward, especially for breeds and countries where frequency of CEA/CH is much lower. Earlier advice cautioned against breeding affected dogs, their parents, their ospring or their siblings (unless eye exams before 3 months of age demonstrate the sibling is unaffected).

Congenital Stationary Night Blindness Test
-
The CSNB test is a DNA-based test that provides, for the first time, a method to unequivocally identify Congenital Stationary Night Blindness, or CSNB, in the Briard. This will control the gene frequency in the breed so as to prevent producing puppies affected with the disease. Reliable identification of dogs that do not carry disease genes is the key to controlling autosomal recessive diseases. The OptiGen CSNB test enables 100% accurate identification of these dogs.
